 Dennis T. Johnson is the President, General Manager, and Design Engineer for J &S Scale Company. He started working with scales at the age of 14 by assisting in the construction and installation during summer months and on weekends, for his father. His father was a Sales and Design Engineer for Fairbanks Morse Scale Company from 1948 until 1960, at the time of his death. In 1952, Dennis and his father started Hutchinson Scale Company for the purpose of designing scale foundations and installing vehicle and livestock scales. He graduated from Hutchinson community Junior College majoring in business and engineering. He served in the U.S. Army for 2 years as an Electronics Technician, stationed at Ft. Bragg, N.C. After the service he attended Central College of McPherson, taking courses in electrical and mechanical engineering. He and Robert D. Schrock started J & S Scale Company in October of 1958 and continued in business together until Mr. Schrock's death in 1996. He has designed, received NTEP approval, and manufactured 9 different models of scales for vehicle, livestock, and bulk weighing. |
